
John Tirel Chief Operating Officer
Attended all nature of casualties from cargo surveys, collisions, fire, groundings, fixed and floating structure damage, oil spillage contaminations, crew injuries, stowaways up to expert witness in English, Canadian and Portuguese courts of law. 1986 to 2002 Employed in Saudi Arabia conducting all nature of marine surveys with a large loss adjusting company. In 1990 set up own surveying operation which spanned Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Kuwait and Sudan. Conducted all nature of marine surveys and P & I club correspondent for Mutuals and Non-Mutuals. 2002 to 2005 as marine consultant and surveyor based in Lisbon, Portugal. Traveled extensively for major casualties, condition survey work and hull damage following collision.
2005/2009 Employed in USA by the world's largest claims solution company to develop global marine business covering all areas in the claims and survey sector
Chris Lunda Managing Director Asia Pacific
Chris brings 19 years of surveying and loss control experience to Braemar Marine. During his career he has represented, as their agent, such insurance associations as AIMU and CESAM and has had management responsibilities for several US Lloyds Agencies.
He has some 12 years of operational management and international business development expertise gained in 26 of the world's marine insurance markets. Chris has conceptualized, declaims programs for many of our industry's top marine insurers.
John Venneman Director of Risk Engineering
John brings 13 years of surveying and loss control experience to Braemar Marine. John has represented as an agent such insurance associations as AIMU and Lloyds. He is a NAMS Certified Marine Surveyor, a Graduate of California Maritime Academy with a Third Mates license, and has an MBA in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University.
Jackson Hendrick Director of Cargo Surveys and Senior Marine Surveyor
Jackson brings over 33 years of surveying and loss control experience to Braemar Marine along with management skills from the world over. Responsibilities as a field surveyor for conducting damage surveys, appraise losses, investigate claims, approve repair estimates, and negotiate settlements for clients. CESAM and Lloyds.
Ravi Shankar Technical Director and Senior Marine Surveyor
Ravi brings well over 30 years of experience in Engineering design, Project Management, Hull & Machinery surveying and vessel inspection to Braemar Marine. During his career he has worked with major P&I Clubs and oil majors and acted as owner's rep. He has several years of hands on experience in managing large projects internationally and successfully completed them with no time or budget overruns. Cost savings and quality were always paramount.
Robin Tucker Director of Claims
Robin brings 25 years of marine adjusting experience to Braemar Marine. She has extensive experience being cargo claims account manager for several large corporations, both domestic and international. Her expertise includes areas related to cargo.
Chris Jenkins Marine Surveyor/Adjuster
Chris brings over 9 years of marine adjusting experience to Braemar Marine. He has extensive experience in cargo claims working for both large insurers and TPA firm handling accounts for large domestic and international clients. His expertise includes areas related to adjusting/surveying of Ocean Cargo also including, Motor Truck Cargo Liability, Auto Physical Damage, Hull & Machinery, Yacht, Marina Property and Liability, and P&I. He holds a BBA in Risk Management & Insurance and Associate in Marine Insurance Management designation (AMIM).
Brian Cushing Marine Manager Europe
Following merchant navy service worldwide on general cargo and container vessels, bulk carriers, and passenger ships, Brian was seconded to New Zealand handling palletised, containerized and break-bulk cargoes, including dairy produce, pulp and paper. On leaving the sea he spent two years with Oceanroutes on postvoyage analysis, speed and consumption claims and historical weather data.
Since 1982 he has been based in London as a marine surveyor and consultant on behalf of insurance interests in loss prevention, casualty and technical investigation, legal consultancy, and expert witness at arbitration and court hearings.
Allan Ashby
Allan Ashby is our Senior Marine Surveyor and Bunker specialist. He is one of the markets’ most highly regarded consultants. Allan joined us in June 2010; and since then he has provided valuable expertise and brought a wealth of international experience and knowledge to the London operation and in locations across the globe. A natural sea-farer and respected and experienced lecturer, Allan has travelled around the world providing first class education and awareness on his specialist subjects, petroleum, dry bulk cargo, bunkers, plus he takes on additional expert witness duties for Arbitration. Allan has spent many years working abroad in Saudi Arabia, South Africa and in various locations around the UK.
Zoe Belucci
Zoe is BM London’s Team Secretary. A fully qualified First Aider with a strong executive support background, Zoe provides administrative and practical assistance to the London Team. Zoe is new to the Marine world and is therefore actively taking steps to improve her knowledge to enable her to provide the highest level of support.
David Ryan Senior Marine Surveyor
David brings over 30 years of marine experience to Braemar Marine. He has 24 years sea-going experience with Canadian Navy, Canadian Coast Guard, Canadian and International Merchant Marine. He also has operational experience on passenger cruise vessels, ro-ro, reefer and dry container ships, product tankers, cable ships, ice breakers and naval vessels. He is also experienced with water-tube steam boilers, steam turbines, gas turbines, diesel-electric propulsion systems, medium and slow speed diesel engine systems. His specialties include Hull and Machinery, Condition, Casualty and Without Prejudice Surveys; Major Casualty Investigations including total loss and crew fatalities; Engine Damage Investigations as a result of repairer's negligence, crew negligence, fuel quality, low sulfur fuel, and failure to follow manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedules; Salvage Operations with SCOPIC SCR appointment under salvage contract; Project Cargo Warranty, Load and Stow, Towage and Voyage Warranty Surveys; P&I Condition Surveys and casualty investigations, liability assessments; Ship Operation, Company Operation and Shipyard Risk Assessment Surveys; Lay-up and Re-activation Surveys, Port Risk Warranty; Hatch Cover Condition and Ultrasonic Hatch Cover Leak Testing; ISM and ISO Audits and General Average. David is fluent in English, Functional French, Basic Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.
Jon Crampton Senior Marine Surveyor
Jon brings over 30 years of experience in the maritime industry that includes: 20-years of service in the US Coast Guard, 6 years as the General Manager of an offshore lightering support company, with an additional 3-years as its health, safety and security manager.
Throughout his career, Jon has worked in partnership with ship owners, cargo owners, oil terminals, underwriters, admiralty attorneys, and commercial claims representatives, performing a range of surveys for the purpose of ascertaining the nature, extent and apparent cause of damage sustained as a result of various occurrences such as collision, stranding, fire, explosion, machinery failure, crew negligence, heavy weather, pollution and the like.
As a US Coast Guard Chief Quartermaster, Jon served as a: Deck Officer, Navigator, Law Enforcement Officer, Commercial Vessel Inspector, Marine Pollution Investigator, Hazardous Chemical Release First Responder, Explosives Loading Supervisor, Search & Rescue Coordinator and Maritime License Administrator.
Erika Herrera Office Manager
Erika brings experience handling P&C claims, most recently in bodily injury claims including fatalities. She also has experience determining comparative negligence and handling litigated files. In addition to being Braemar's Office Manager, Erika also assists with claims administration and adjusting, as she holds P&C licenses in Georgia, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. Erika is also fluent in Spanish.
